GOOD SAMARITAN CANCER HOSPITAL (GSCH) is an institute of healthcare run by Missionaries of Compassion. The Hospital is located at Ifakara town in Morogoro region; it offers comprehensive cancer services that include investigations, diagnosis and treatment. Oncologist (1 position)

Job Descriptions

• Working with patients to explain a diagnostic and stages of cancer, discuss treatment options, and assist in managing the side effects and symptoms of cancer and its treatment.

• Leading a cancer treatment team of various healthcare professionals.

• Coordinating treatment plans and prescribing various types of treatments, including chemotherapy and immuno therapy.

• Treating patients with radiation therapy.

• Assisting patients with pain management.

• Performing surgical operations to remove tumours and determine whether the cancer has spread from the original starting point.

• Performing basic administrative and clerical tasks, such as keeping records of test results, writing prescriptions, providing cancer information to patients, and monitoring treatment plans.

• Carry out medical research

• To perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be directed by Director of Medical Services/Hospital administrator/Managing director

Qualifications

• A Medical graduate with Master of Medicine (MMed) in Clinical Oncology from an accredited university.

• Holder of Certificate of full registration as a medical practitioner from Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT)

• Must have at least one (1 Year) of experience in reputable institutions

Additional Certifications

• Certificate of Registration with the Medical Radiology and Imaging Professionals (MRIPC)

• Must be a computer Literate

Other Competences

• Fluent in English and Swahili

• Team Player

• Eager to learn from others

• Work under minimum supervision

Qualifications

• Master of medicine in Surgery from an accredited university

• Holder of Certificate of full registration as a medical practitioner from Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT)

Medical Officer(1 position)

Job Descriptions

• Care of patients – giving correct diagnosis, recommending treatment and ensuring its implementation

• Advise clinical colleagues outside the department in own area of expertise

• Ensure that records are accurate and up to date for the patients treated

• Attend night report meeting and offer advice and recommendations

• Provide medical consultation to other departments

• To give instruction to medical students and other hospital staff

• Supervise intern doctors and discuss difficult cases with them

• Contribute to the updating SOPs and Guidelines

• Notify director of nursing and the Nurse in charge of any recurring issues with the performance of individual nurses

• Notify head of department of medical doctors under performing

• Take part in regular departmental meetings, and others such as hospital clinical meetings, mortality audit meetings and seminars

• Develop own knowledge and expertise, and share learning with other staff

Qualifications

• Checking the stock on a regular basis for maintaining the inventory level, and placing orders if required.

• Changing patient’s medication in consultation with physician as indicated by their conditions and responses.

• Adhering with the protocols, norms, rules and regulations in order to maintain complete medical records.

• Maintaining hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare procedures.

• Conducting research for improving the nursing practices and healthcare outcomes.

• Providing instant care during medical emergencies, like car accidents, burns, heart attacks and strokes.

• Providing necessary guidance on health maintenance and dis-ease prevention.

Enrolled Nurse (3 position)

Medical Attendants (2 positions)

Job Descriptions

• Carry out general cleaning of the wards, Diagnostic Departments, Treatment areas and its surrounding

• Transport patients in wheelchairs or on movable beds around the hospital

• Move medical equipment between wards, departments and theater

• Maintain stocks of clean clothing and linen for patients

• Remove soiled clothing and linen items for cleaning to the laundry

• Assist with taking samples and collecting results from the laboratory

General Surgeon(1 position)

Job Descriptions

  • Take thorough history and physical examination
  • Make diagnosis and determine the need and aim for surgery.
  • Review patient medical history and plan the best treatment procedure.
  • Evaluate and advise patients on the risk involved with his/her surgery.
  • Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols.
  • Performing surgical procedures to remove tumors and send then for pathological evaluation.
  • Conduct Pre and post operative ward rounds – Oversee all treatment prior to and post-surgery, and identify associated risks.
  • Coordinate follow up clinics after any surgical procedure.
  • Schedule patients for multi – disciplinary tumors boards.
  • Ensure sterility in the operating rooms for all equipment and instruments.
  • Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of patient rights.
  • Manage surgical services, including planning, scheduling, coordination, determination of procedures, and procurement of sup-plies and equipment.

Nurse Anaesthetist (1 position)

Job Descriptions

  • Completing physical assessments of each patient
  • Discussing the surgery and recovery with the patient prior to the procedure
  • Preparing and administering the patient-specific amount of anesthesia needed for the procedure
  • Maintaining the patient’s anesthesia levels during surgery
  • Monitor the patient’s vital signs during a surgical procedure.
  • Ensuring proper anesthesia recovery for patients until patients are transferred to care units
  • Be an excellent communicator with the medical team to minimize risk to the patient during a surgical procedure.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality while delivering the best quality of care possible.
  • Keep current in the field to identify new technologies and anesthetic drugs in order to minimize risk and improve patient health.

Assistant Nursing Officer (2 positions)

Job Descriptions

  • Observing and recording patients’ behavior
  • Coordinating with physicians and other healthcare professionals for creating and evaluating customized care plans.
  • Diagnosing the disease by analyzing patient’s symptoms and taking required actions for his/her recovery.
  • Maintaining reports of patients’ medical histories, and monitoring changes in their condition.

Qualifications

  • Holder two (2) years Certificate in Nursing.
  • Must have a valid License to Practice.
  • Must have at least two (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions.
  • Assist in giving patient’s bed baths or helping up to the bathroom
  • Assist with changing Chlorine water, soapy water and clean water in sluice room, for the disinfecting of instruments and keeping it tidy
  • Adhering to infection control procedures
  • Assisting with Health Education for patients when appropriate
  • Complete data collection sheets as required
  • Perform any other related duties as required by the HoD/Supervisor

Qualifications

  • Holder of two (2) years certificate in Nursing.
  • At least two (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions.
