As volunteer

As a volunteer, the candidate will get the opportunity to explore, as nurse midwive the routine work in the OPD at CCBRT. This could be in any of the disciplines that CCBRT provides eg ophthalmology, orthopeadics, VVF, maternal and newborn health etc. The volunteer will be assigned to clinical duties under supervision of an in charge of the respective department. Furthermore, you will participate in a shift system which include nights and weekends.

During this placement, the candidate will be assessed for potential future job openings.

English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is an asset.

Mawenzi Hospital is a district hospital in Moshi , Kilimanjaro region , Tanzania . It was established in 1920 as a military clinic . In 1956 Mawenzi clinic was upgraded to a hospital . In the 1970s the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (CMC) which received a lot of aid and Mawenzi hospital lagged behind for lack of financial and other assistance. But despite all these challenges Mawenzi hospital still remained an important hospital with the official status of a district hospital.  Mawenzi Hospital has a total of 447 staff members, of which 152 are nurses , more than 20 doctors , and other staff. The hospital has the capacity to treat 300 patients a day, and 200 beds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing and experience in community health practices

Work Experience

  • Experience in advising diabetic and hypertensive patients and coordinating their treatments in Tanzania

Promote good clinical and/or public health practice in the conduct of the study v. Ensure preparedness in the assigned district for study implementation
  • Participate in participant review and care, and in all study, procedures as guided by study protocols and guidance of Local Principal Investigator and Principal Investigator in accordance with Terms of
  • Reference provided in the Attachment 2 vii. Maintain all study records in the assigned district including but not limited to, regulatory binders, study specific source documentation and other materials as required.
  • Act as liaison between field study personnel, patients, CHWs, the SP, the SN, Local Principal Investigator, Principal Investigator and the ComHIC Implementation Team.
  • May perform other job-related duties as requested or required by the Local Principal Investigator and Principal Investigator.

Expected Duration of Assignment

  1. Assignment is on a one-year renewable contract with a probation period for the first 3 months.
  2. Expected date of completion of duty is October 2022.
  3. Remuneration is negotiable within the appropriate grade depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
