This article will guide you on how to get TRN application form online for  individual Jamaica and TRN requirements.

A Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) is a unique nine-digit identification number assigned by an automated system to each individual taxpayer, corporate firm, and organization (non-profit, partnership, charity, etc.).

TRN REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS

  • TRN application form filled out and signed (click here for application)
  • A copy of the applicant’s driver’s license OR passport (notarized by a Notary Public, High Commission or Consulate).
  • The applicant’s full last name and first name, date of birth, picture, and signature must be on the passport or driver’s license.
  • If someone else is allowed to pick up the TRN card, the applicant should include a letter with the name of the person who is allowed to pick up the card.
  • Applicants who sent their forms by mail from overseas will then get their TRN cards sent to the address they gave on their application.
  • If the ID or supporting documents are not in English, you also need an official translation.
  • The person’s signature on the application form must match the one on the ID.

How to apply for a TRN Jamaica

  • Visit www.jamaicatax.gov.jm to learn more about the Tax Administration of Jamaica.
  • Choose forms from the menu at the top of the page, just below the logo. Scroll down in the drop-down menu until you see TRN.

Choose Form 1: Application for Taxpayer Identification Number and download it (Individuals).

  • Fill out, sign, and mail the form with a copy of your ID that has been notarized to:

Question: When I apply for a TRN, do I have to pay a fee?
Answer No, getting a TRN doesn’t cost anything.

Question: Is there a limit on how old a person can be when they apply for a TRN?
Answer No, a TRN does not have an age limit. But applications for kids under 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Question Can a TRN be requested by someone who is neither a Jamaican citizen nor a resident of Jamaica?
Answer Yes, a TRN can be requested by anyone.

Question: Can I apply for a TRN for someone who lives overseas?
Answer No, the person can download the application from the website, fill it out, sign it, and mail it to us (at the address in step 2) with a copy of their ID that has been notarized.

Answer You can use copies of your driver’s license or passport that have been notarized.
