Test Division Summary
Job Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and entrenching a controls culture in finance and the wider Bank.
Ensuring integrity of the general ledger through reconciliations and review of the fixed assets register.
Reporting to various regulatory bodies including Bank of Tanzania and SARB through Group Regulatory reporting team
Assisting in providing Stanbic Bank leadership with management information to support decision making.
Preparation and review of consolidation of the bank and financial reports.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Strategy
Able to develop, analyse and monitor operational plans and budgets and recommend corrective actions as required.
Identify, assess and advise on information required for management decision making.
Able to recommend organisational improvements based on results from management accounting systems
Design, evaluate and advise on the organisations performance measures to ensure alignment with corporate strategy.
Able to implement, monitor and update management accounting systems.
Financial Management
Understand financial systems design and internal controls.
Implement and update accounting policies and procedures in accordance with professional standards.
Able to develop policies and procedures for documenting and supporting information for transactions and events.
Able to prepare financial statements and disclosures for external users and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Evaluate and adapt financial accounting systems and processes to respond to emerging developments.
Develop, prepare, analyse and interpret relevant financial information and non-financial performance measures.
Interpret and advise the organisation on reporting obligations.
Ensure preparation of timely, reliable and relevant financial information.
Client
Communicate standard work information either verbally or in writing in a clear and concise way- Taking account of audience and readership.
Demonstrate Business Etiquette in Oral/written/Telephone communication skills.
Prepare or present information to different audiences which is effective and understood.
Use skills and different formats to effectively communicate more complicated information.
Project a professional image in communications and physical presentation.
Facilitate resolutions between differing viewpoints.
Manage Regulatory compliance matters
Ensure the bank’s compliance with the Bank of Tanzania Act, Banking and Financial institutions regulations pertaining to the Banks Act, and regulations issued through any guidance notes, directives and circulars.
Interact with the Bank’s regulatory departments at Bank of Tanzania to ensure information is received to facilitate compliance.
Understand, at a high level, country regulations and the differences to the SARB’s regulations.
Managing the BA returns from Group for SARB reporting
Report to the Bank of Tanzania (BOT)
Submit all Returns for Stanbic Bank Tanzania to the Bank of Tanzania in line with the requirements of the Bank of Tanzania Act in time as prescribed in the regulations.
Calculate BOT Capital for Credit Risk, Market Risk as well as Operation Risk
Prepare quarterly Published Financial statements
Prepare Audited Published Financial statements
Manage data and processes
Collect and capture financial data that provides eligible collateral to facilitate capital savings and accurate reporting.
Collect and capture data relating to provisions to facilitate capital savings and accurate reporting.
Actively assist with the automation of the credit risk and remaining manual sections of the return.
Ensure smooth transition from manually populating information to using an automated process.
Demonstrate initiatives and execution as managed on the ROA Regulatory Improvements management panel.

Manage internal reporting
Provide the Treasury and Capital Management teams with MIS reports as required to facilitate the capital management processes.
Facilitate all other ad hoc reporting requirements in support of business initiatives
Management Accounting
Review of monthly Management Report
MAC analysis on respective lines and comment on variance.
Review of Credit Modals and staff fair value modal at month end
Ensure the TB balances at all times
Periodic checking of the data on the system to identify inconsistence.
Review of monthly group reports, i.e. Total commentary, Flash report etc
Preparation of FIP
Attend IFRS queries
Preparation of AFS
Interact with Group regulatory reporting Team
Prepare responses to SARB queries relating to the BA returns and provide commentary to SARB reports.
Deliver timeous commentaries for review to manager of the business area
Capital planning and forecasting
Prepare capital report for ALCO and internal reporting
Work with Head of Treasury to prepare capital forecast
Balance Sheet Substantiations (BSS)
Annual review of BSS Policy and other processes
Annual review of risk profiling of suspense accounts
Arrange BSS Awareness trainings to cover Reconciliations & internal control issues
Maintenance of Master Document to ensure that it’s up to date and all accounts have ownership
Track all Audit issues
Monthly AssureNet attestation/ Core banking attestation
Reconciliation review
Internal financial control (IFC)
Review IFC mandate for changes if need be
Adherence to ROA IFC timelines
Facilitate External and Internal Audit
Monitor for closure all issues raised on Revenue assurance/leakage reports
Ensure issues raised on the forum are all resolved or escalated.
