Position:                                           Coordinator 2 – Environment (Monitoring)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 

To Implement environmental monitoring programs – water quality, air quality, meteorology,

noise and vibration, etc. as part of the overall environmental management to comply with legal,

corporate and other requirements.

 

           QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science/Engineering or other

related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, a minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental management.

 

 

           MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

            AGA Standards and Legal Requirements:

  • Assist in implementing Water Management and Air Quality Management Standards.
  • Assist in implementing the water and air quality management plans and programmes as well and the environmental monitoring plans and programmes.

           Data collection

  • Supervise the data collection exercise to ensure QA/QC is followed.
  • Oversee the management of monitoring equipment ensuring that they are in good order at all times.
  • Regular review and update of the data collection programme to ensure compliance with the EMP and AGA standards.
  • Regular review and update of procedures to ensure effectiveness and adequacy.
  • Management of sample preservation to ensure samples represent the field condition by the time they are analyzed.
  • Management of sample transportation arrangements to ensure samples get to the laboratory timely

             Data Management

  • Oversee the storage of monitoring data ensuring all data in all formats are securely kept as they are collected.
  • Manage access to the collected data in all formats.
  • Manage the environmental software and database license renewals and updates.
  • Share data as requested by other users.

        Analysis, Interpretation, and reporting

  • Analyze raw data, using various tools and techniques, to get useful information.
  • Contact the laboratory to address errors related to analytical procedures and lab reports.
  • Address all issues relating to the data collection process.
  • Recommend and implement approved practical and cost-effective corrective and preventive measures to address exceedances found.
  • Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor related to your role.

 

           ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to assess and evaluate compliance with legal and other requirements.
  • Ability to use a range of tools including applications and software to analyse environmental data to validate accomplishment or identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive environmental reports.
  • Ability to coordinate environmental tasks/projects involving different internal and external stakeholders.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 

The      purpose of the role is to conduct sampling and drilling activities related to DD and RC Drilling

oper     ations / activities as per GGM standard Operating procedures and AGA standard best practices

to achieve the set targets.

 

              QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advance Secondary School Certificates or Diploma in  Geology or equivalent qualificatin.
  • Possession of a valid Tanzanian driver`s licence will be an added advantage.

  EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate with Diploma in Geology or equivalent must have 2+ years working experience in Geological/QAQC related activities.

            MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to the minimum safety standards e.g. (PPE requirements such as gloves, Safety glasses etc., conducting TAKE 5, participating in Hazard Identification and reporting)
  • Conduct Planned Task Observations, Workplace Inspections and CCV’s at drilling sites to confirm if drilling and sampling practices and drilling general operations are maintained and propose remedial actions to rectify deviations.
  • Plan, Organize, coordinate, and prepare samples from drilling quality test works for dispatch to Assay laboratories as per standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure sample collection and labelling at field site is correct, and that problems are identified and rectified according to sampling and QAQC protocols.
  • of all the required equipment and other logistics for drilling quality test works and ensure the equipment is in good working condition.
  • Organize and conduct insertion of appropriate Quality Control materials in all grade control, Infill and Exploration samples as per SOP.
  • Conduct drilling quality studies and other QAQC analyses and ensure desired sample recoveries are maintained.
  • Ensure all other sampling and drilling activities are conducted at highest standard as per standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in meetings with the contractor whenever necessary, and provide your inputs as deemed necessary.
  • Prepare weekly reports and assist QAQC supervisor in preparation of the monthly and annual reports.
  • Conduct all other task assignments within the Evaluation section as considered essential.
  • Maintaining a high standard of sample storage and housekeeping at sample storage areas in support to QAQC Supervisor and QAQC Controller 2

Position:                                                     Technical Aid 2- Underground Geology

 PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To provide support and assistance to Geology Technicians and Geologists in collecting geological

information through grade control, mapping and Face sampling to inform development and production

activities.

 

           QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Geology or Secondary School certificate.
  • Must possess Class D or above Tanzanian driver’s license. (Must pass site driving assessment)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years’ geology experience in the mining industry preferable Underground operations.
  • Knowledge of underground mining, grade control geology and sampling will be added advantage.

 

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure that all geology work is undertaken in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Prepare and organize all gears required for mapping and face sampling.
  • Drive geologists or technicians underground for mapping and sampling activities.
  • Assist geologists or technicians to conduct underground mapping and collect face samples.
  • Ensure all face samples are bagged and labelled as per QAQC standard procedure.
  • To prepare sample bags, accurately completed submission forms with sample numbers and QAQC in a correct order.
  • Ensure face samples are delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Make sure all sample preparations and are correctly done to avoid sample swap and any other human error.
  • Ensure all QAQC procedure are adhered to as practical as possible.
  • Preparation of RC sample bags and ensure they are delivered to drilling site underground.
  • Inspect UG core samples and make sure are clean and well labelled.
  • Participate in geological sampling at ROMPAD and core shed when required.
  • Make sure UG geology light vehicles are kept in good condition by maintaining constant housekeeping.

Position:                                         Supervisor – Dewatering

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To supervise pit dewatering and standpipe operations in accordance with procedures to ensure that active mining benches and areas are dewatered ahead of planned excavation and within budgets.

 

            QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate of Secondary education or above.
  • The incumbent must have LV driving permit.

 

            EXPERIENCE:

  • At list 5 years in open pit cast operations with proven competency in dewatering equipment e.g. Excavator and the knowledge of welding HDPE pipes

 

            MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

            Health Safety and Environment:

  • Make sure that safe working procedures are followed for each routine task.
  • Ensure Job Safety Analysis, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment are done.
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained.
  • Ensure proper PPEs are used.
  • Report incident immediately as per GGM procedures.
  • Stop work if the working environment / condition is not safe and escalating to your supervisor.
  • Report any unsafe act or practice done at the working area.

 

            Leadership:

  • Hold pre shift meeting to pass on important information to the team/safety shares.
  • Resolve personal issues of team members or refer them to the Supervisor.

  • Manage the performance of subordinates.

 

            Equipment Utilization:

  • Ensure equipment are used in accordance with training provided.
  • Ensure that equipment used by the team is maintained and can always be used.

            Coordination:

  • Coordinate with LME mechanics for scheduled service and break down maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Production, Survey, and Drill & blast Supervisors to execute mining shift plan.

 

            Cost Monitoring:

  • Monitor proper usage of HDEP pipes and storage to avoid damage.
  • Ensure proper handling of Power tools and other tools are maintained.
  • Ensure that there is no unnecessary engine idling of equipment.
  • Promote safe equipment operation to avoid engine abuse.
  • Maintain excellent operation and standard.

 

            Work Planning:

  • Ensure that all required tools are available before shift starting.
  • Ensure shift start and end on time.
  • Ensure meals are taken on time.
  • Manage work force deployment on time.

 

            Production:

  • Supervise the execution of daily plan.
  • Ensure that daily water moved volume are met or exceed.

Position:                                         Senior Supervisor – Dewatering

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To assist the Superintendent by oversee daily operations within the department, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental goals, including resource allocation.

 

            QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma /FTC Engineering or above from recognize institution.
  • The incumbent must have LV driving permit.

            EXPERIENCE:

  • Mining experience of not less than 10 years in open cast operation with a supervisory experience of not less than 5 years.

 

            MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Inspect all dewatering working areas and enforce compliance to safety standards, install and inspect all pumps, pipes, sumps, trenches, and all associated ancillaries.
  • Inspect all machinery, equipment and safety devices and take appropriate action in the event of non-compliance to legal and management specifics.
  • Ensure all storm water run-off in the designated channels to the sumps, good housekeeping on all dewatering areas including dams.
  • Assess and monitor the performance of dewatering teams against legal and management specifics with regards to declaring the workplace safe, all Risk Assessment and logbooks are completed,  required PTO’s are of the right quantity and quality are completed.
  • Monitor and advise on the ordering and procurement of pumping equipment, pipes, temporary pipes, clamps, bots and nuts, pumps and all associated ancillaries and manage stock levels of all pumps, temporary pipes, bolts and nuts, clamps, and all associated ancillaries.
  • Obtain, record and report on status of all dewatering areas and volumes of water pumped daily or any intervals determined by the manager.
  • Ensure compliance to the regulation and mine safety standard and procedures and record all specified inspections required by the Minerals Act.
  • Assisting during breakdowns or emergencies and co-ordinating support from other disciplines.
  • Manage and control the attendance and leave roaster of the team.
  • Resolve Personal issues of the team members and escalating when needed.
  • Report all incident immediately whenever it happens as per GGM procedure.
  • Managing site dewatering operations in both Nyankanga and Nyamlilima open pits.
  • Planning and executing of all dewatering activities to make sure no water affects Mining activities.
  • Develop training needs for dewatering team and advice the way forward.
  • Ensure that Operation excellence practices are adhered to i.e., Visual board Updates.
  • Attend any related dewatering issues which might arise during operation.
  • Liase with hydrogeology & LME section for smooth operation.
  • Ensure all lifting tools are inspected as per GGM standard.

 

            Safety:

  • Report incidents immediately as per GGM procedures.
  • Stop work if the working environment / condition is not safe.
  • Report any unsafe act or practice done at the working area.
