Assistant Nursing Officer (2 positions)
Job Descriptions
- Observing and recording patients’ behavior
- Coordinating with physicians and other healthcare professionals for creating and evaluating customized care plans.
- Diagnosing the disease by analyzing patient’s symptoms and taking required actions for his/her recovery.
- Maintaining reports of patients’ medical histories, and monitoring changes in their condition.

Demonstrating competence and application of the following clinical skills such as wound care, preparation and assistance with minor surgery, collection of specimens, vital sign monitoring, teaching breast self examination, giving basic dietary advice and health promotion.
Undertaking the preliminary aspects of health assessments under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- To provide nursing care in accordance with appropriate professional and GSCH standards.
This will be achieved by:
Clearly documenting all care and education provided
Using the patient information system skillfully
- To provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and other staff.
This will be achieved by:
Safe disposal and cleaning and/or sterilizing of all equipment used in patient care.
Using Standard Precautions when dealing with body sub-stances
Appropriate use and disposal of ‘sharps
Being aware of, and reporting any occupational hazards identified
Following GSCH policy to report untoward events/ incidents/errors.
Taking responsibility for your own health and well being
- To maximize personal development This will be achieved by:
Completing all orientation and induction requirements
Taking up opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge through continuing Nursing Education activities
Maintaining a professional portfolio which demonstrates competency to practice
Participating in annual personal performance review
- To utilize treatment and care resources appropriately. This will be achieved by:
Reporting needs for stock reordering, and involvement in checking orders as appropriate
Using and checking equipment and facilities correctly, re-porting any need for maintenance, or replacement
- To participate in quality improvement activities.
This will be achieved by:
- Attending nurse team and practice team meetings
- To support and collaborate with peers and other providers within the wider health care team
This will be achieved by:
- Discussing patient care issues with other colleagues involved as needed
- Working constructively within the wider multi-disciplinary team within GSCH
- Being an honest, open communicator who demonstrates respect for other staffs, patients and all persons.
- Any other ad hoc requests from the Head of department/ Administration
Qualifications
- Holder two (2) years Certificate in Nursing.
- Must have a valid License to Practice.
- Must have at least two (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions.
- Assist in giving patient’s bed baths or helping up to the bathroom
- Assist with changing Chlorine water, soapy water and clean water in sluice room, for the disinfecting of instruments and keeping it tidy
- Adhering to infection control procedures
- Assisting with Health Education for patients when appropriate
- Complete data collection sheets as required
- Perform any other related duties as required by the HoD/Supervisor
Qualifications
- Holder of two (2) years certificate in Nursing.
- At least two (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions.
Other Competences

- Work under minimum supervision
