Job Purpose and Key responsibilities

Job Purpose

To execute the compliance program and facilitate the risk management and compliance activities of the firm

Key responsibilities

  1.  Responsible for the timely identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting, and escalation of all identified operational and compliance risk exposures.
  2.  Conduct workshops with the business for risk and control assessments as per the Business Unit annual RCA plan.
  3. Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations governing the business entity
  4. Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures
  5.  Advise management and the board on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations and other compliance risks through detailed reports
  6. Participate in the development and review of organizational policies and procedures
  7. Collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance
  8. Ensure AML and KYC policies are in place are adhered to
  9. Ensure timely, efficient reporting of suspicious transactions
  10. Monitor and provide advice to management to minimize risk resulting from poor internal controls
  11. Secretary to the Management Risk Committee Meetings and ensure papers and minutes are circulated in a timely manner
  12. In conjunction with the International Business Risk and Compliance Manager, perform annual BCP/DR risk analysis, planning, testing or live execution for your specific line of business
  13.  Monitor BU compliance with specific obligations, including risk and control assessment and support incident management related to compliance failures.  incident perform root cause analysis
  14. Conducting staff training programs that build risk awareness within the business entity;
  15. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time as described in your Personal Score Card

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, business administration or related field
  2. Accreditation in risk management is an added advantage.
  3. 2 – 4 years’ experience in compliance and / risk management
  4. Compliance risk management experience in insurance or banking sector is an added advantage.
  5. Experience in law will be an added advantage
