Position: Longhole Drill Operator

Number of Positions: One (1)
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This position is responsible for carrying out Underground production drilling of various sized holes, and other tasks directed by the shift supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of secondary school
- Valid Tanzanian Driving License with underground driving experience
- A formal qualification (Diploma/certificate) in Mining Engineering will be an added advantage
EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operation of an Underground Longhole equipment.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Accurately drill a series of Long holes to a design pattern using a mechanized drill.
- Read and accurately follow mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes aredrilled to design line, gradient, and profile.
- Communicate with surveyors, geologists, and engineers to optimize drill patters and meters.
- Set up and troubleshoot on Long hole Drill rigs.
- Access face conditions at the start of the job and scale from height according to siterequirements.
- Ensure that all tools are serviceable and safe.
- Perform pre-start checks and SWICs.
- Ensure inspections and maintenance is carried out on all equipment before use.
- Work to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
- Carry out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures and prepare the areas for drilling, charging or scraping in accordance with mine safety procedures
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- First Aid knowledge.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills in English Language
- Ability to maintain high standards of housekeeping within the mine.
- Ability to recognize potential mining hazards and risks.
- Ability to listen and take instructions and work in a team.
- Must be able to work under pressure with minimum/or zero supervision.
- Be physically and mentally fit and hard working
