The University of Dar es Salaam through the School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology (SoAF) in collaboration with SWISSAID is announcing an internship in marine and fresh water fish farming.

An applicant MUST have either completed B.Sc. Fisheries and Aquaculture or B.Sc. Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries from the University of Dar es Salaam between 2019 to 2022. Interns will have a maximum period of twelve (12) months working in the project in order to allow other graduates to participate in the same

Key duties and responsibilities of interns
1. Data collection, analysis and report writing for the ongoing project research.
2. Study on milkfish reproduction biology such as breeding season, location, nursery grounds, fry collection and catching techniques.
3. Study on milkfish ecology, feeding options and feed production options.
4. Test the efficiency of various pond fertilization techniques (composts, manures and inorganic fertilizers).
5. Analyze milkfish production trends, trade, market survey, value addition and value chain beneficiaries and opportunities for Blue Economy.
6. Study best acclimatization practice for different fish species including tilapia.
7. Analyze growth performance of mangrove near fish farmer group ponds, map current fish farmer groups  and potential future fish farmer groups, benefits of salt ponds, and relationship between beach management unit and fish farmer groups.
