HOW TO REQUEST SARS TAX NUMBER FROM SOUTH AFRICA REVENUE SERVICE SARS

- Send them a brief query. Make sure your details match the credentials on SARS records.
- If you initially registered as an eFiler, you can easily get it on eFiling. just log in and check your number.
- You can request your notice of registration via MobiApp. That is if you are a registered eFiler.
- The recent update on efiler now enables all taxpayers to request the Notice of Registration (IT150) under the SARS Registered Details menu option.
- you can also get it at any SARS branch. Do remember to make an appointment before you visit the branch.
HOW TO GET SARS TAX NUMBER THROUGH SMS
You can request a notice of registration through the following methods:
THROUGH EFILER:
- log in to eFiling.
- Click on the “Notice of registration” icon on the Home page to obtain your IT150.
THROUGH SMS:
- Send an SMS to SARS on 47277. This is to request the IT150 (Tax reference number).
- TRN (Space) ID number/Passport number/ Asylum Seeker number.
PLEASE NOTE:
SARS will not provide your tax number to another individual unless the person is your tax practitioner or has the power of attorney to conduct your tax affairs. The Notice of Registration (IT150) will reflect your tax reference number.
