Flamingoo Foods Company Ltd (founded in 2017) is the leading rice processor in the Lake Rukwa Valley of Tanzania producing more than 2,000 t of rice per year. Our innovative approach, taking weather and climate forecasts into our production planning, just made us to be rated among the top 5 startups in Africa. Together with the University of Maryland/NASA Harvest, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, we will survey rice smallholder farmers in Katavi region during January to May 2022. The field supervisors will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Project implementation
- Hiring of field surveyor staff
- Purchase of measurement equipment
- Supervision and management of field surveyor teams
- Identifying and maintaining contact with participating farmers
- Organizing of staff training, jointly with Sokoine University of Agriculture
- Data processing and reporting to Flamingoo Foods headquarters
We are looking for two dedicated field supervisors with the following abilities:
- High level of own decision making
- High leadership and negotiation skills
- Integrity and honesty
- Ideally a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Having working experience in farmer surveys ideally using ODK, food aggregation/quality control will be an advantage
- Hands-on, hard-working mentality and high extent of self-motivation
- Good knowledge of English, Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work within an intercultural team
- Good way of constant communication within the company and with customers
- Willingness to travel to a large extent
- Willingness to stay in rural areas
This position is a fixed-term job for the project duration from December 2021 to May 2022. Please note that the position can be converted into a permanent position subject to a performance review at the end of the project.
