Universities of the Coimbra Group Offer short-term scholarships to young African researchers from higher institutions from sub-Saharan Africa. The scholarship aims at enabling scholars undertake research which they are involved in their home country and to establish academic and research contacts.
The Coimbra Group, established by association of European universities aims to increase co-operation amongst its members by enhancing special academic and cultural ties and creating channels of information and exchange. Young African researchers are encouraged to apply for the scholarship offer.

Coimbra Group Short Stay Scholarship | ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the Coimbra Group Short Stay Scholarship:
- Applicants must be born on or after 1 January 1976
- Applicants must be nationals of and current residents in a country in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Applicants must be current staff members of a university or an equivalent higher education institution in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Applicants preferably must be of doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status.
