The Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority has been established by the Petroleum Act, 2015. Its mandate is to regulate and manage the petroleum resources and provide advisory services to the Government and the Minister responsible for petroleum affairs. This mandate is underpinned in policy and legal instruments including: The National Energy Policy, 2015; the Petroleum Act, 2015; the Oil and Gas Revenue Management Act, 2015 and the Tanzania Extractive Industries (Transparency and Accountability) Act, 2015.
1.1 GEOLOGIST II – 2 POSTS
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting geological samples from field excursions and well sites
- Describing and identifying lithologies of rock samples from outcrops and wells
- Producing surface and subsurface maps
- Preparing thin sections for sedimentology studies and interpreting lithology from well data
- Attending and describing well cuttings on site drilling operations and
- prepares well summary sheets;
- Participating in interpreting acquired geological well data including composite logs, wire-line logs, mud-logs and drillers logs
1.1.1 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Geology, Geo-Science, Petroleum Geology or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution.
1.1.3 REMUNERATION Salary Scale: PURAS 5
1.2 GEOCHEMIST II – 1 POST
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting geochemical samples from field excursions and well sites
- Collecting and identifying the occurrence of hydrocarbon seepage in the field
- Preparing surface geochemical maps
- Participating in preparing analytical chemicals in collaborates with geochemical lab technician.
1.1.1 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Geology with Chemistry or its equivalent from recognized institution.
1.2.3 REMUNERATION Salary Scale: PURAS 5
1.2 GEOPHYSICIST II – 3 POSTS
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing land surveying and seismic line clearance
- Participating in geophysical surveys
- Ensuring adequate logistical support, sufficient supplies of seismic acquisition material
- Preparing daily geophysical report
- Reporting geophysical surveys including gravity and seismic acquisition
- Carrying out preliminary geophysical data processing
- Recording properties and crop destroyed during data acquisition
1.1.1 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Geology/Geosciences majoring in Physics, Geophysics, Petroleum Geology or its equivalent from recognized institution
3.2.1 REMUNERATION Salary Scale: PURAS 5
1.2 ENGINEER II (PETROLEUM EXPLORATION) – 2 POSTS
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out drilling site preparation
- Taking stock of drilling equipment and materials
- Collecting drilling data and prepare well data sheets
- Monitoring land reclamation after completion of drilling operations
- Preparing and submitting daily drilling reports to the Authority
- Determining reservoir areal and thickness extent
- Participating in evaluating wire-line logs, driller’s log and mud loggers’ data
- Preparing reservoir characteristic report
1.1.1 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution. Must be registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a graduate Engineer.
4.2.1 REMUNERATION S Salary Scale: PURAS 5
