South African Universities Applications open and closing dates 2023

The season for submitting University applications has officially commenced as some Universities in the country have opened their applications for the 2023 academic year. We’ll now look at those which have opened as well as when the other Universities in South Africa will.

Universities Applications 2023 open and closing dates

The following Universities are currently taking 2023 applications:

Rhodes University

Rhodes University opened their applications for 2023 in March. The general formative degrees offered at Rhodes provides students with in-depth knowledge and skills across two disciplinary areas.  This allows students to work across a wide range of careers.

Applications will close on 30 November so apply now!

Tshwane University of Technology

Applications to study at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) are now open for the 2023 academic year. TUT offers more than 400 career options, attracting more than 60 000 students annually.

TUT also offers Distance Education. ​Distance Education offers Diplomas in the Department Safety and Security. It offers Policing and Traffic courses.​

Wits University

Wits offers undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degrees and diplomas, as well as a range of short courses and part-time and online offerings. Applications for the 2023 academic year are now open.

Applications for Faculty of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Architecture; Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology; BA Film and TV will close on 30 June while applications for all the other programmes Wits offers closes on 30 September.

Nelson Mandela University

Prospective students who wish to study at Nelson Mandela University in 2023 are invited to apply for a certificate, diploma or degree qualification using our online application system.

Applications for MBChB applicants will close on 31 May, Bachelor of Radiography applications will close on 30 June while early applications close on 4 August and late applications will close on 30 September.

University of Limpopo

Applications to study at the University of Limpopo in 2023 are now open. Applicants should apply online. Applications for MBChb programmes close on 29 July while other programmes close on 30 September.

  • University of Venda: July
  • North West University: 1 April
  • Stellenbosch University: 4 April

University application closing dates usually vary depending on which programme you’re applying for and usually begin in May already
