Responsibilities 

  • Relate and communicate with maintenance team on equipment breakdowns and organize for mechanics/technicians to work.
  • Work closely with Mining Operations, Technical Services and Geology departments to ensure daily production targets are met.
  • Ensure timely release of equipment to maintenance crew for all required services.
  • Monitor all equipment breakdowns and ensure the correct equipment conditions are reported to maintenance leadership team.
  • Ensure all mining production equipment are fully utilized to achieve optimum production target.
  • Work closely with Mine Foremen/Supervisors/Geologist/Mining Superintendent to ensure daily production targets are met.
  • Monitor all tasks being undertaken by equipment operators and ensure required work and use are done in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
  • Identify and monitor key mining operation performance indicators and direct mining operations towards achieving the targets.
  • Monitor and control the use of mining operations two-way radio communication to ensure they are used as per radio use SOP and to report any violation or abuses.
  • Produce accurate production and equipment report to mining/maintenance leadership team.
  • Be an advocate for safety, actively participate in all mine site activities that ensure safety and security of personnel and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate data/records with regards to equipment statuses and production load counts.
  • Take active role in the running of the shift by using all mining SOPs and assist field equipment operators.
  • Perform any other duties that will be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering or Equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of Fleet management Systems, Driver Safety Systems, computer applications, MS Excel and MS Word, mine equipment performance and production optimization.
  • Must demonstrate good oral / written communication skills in English.
  • Team Player and result oriented.
  • A valid Tanzanian driving licence will be advantageous.
  • Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness

Experience and competencies needed.

  • Good knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practice.
  • Ability to act and operate as part of a team and possess a “can do” attitude that will motivate the crew to action company directives, regardless of personal opinion.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to complete tasks in a safe, timely and professional fashion.
  • A working knowledge of computer applications, mine equipment performance and production optimization.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the mining industry in a dispatch environment will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
  • Responsible for shift handover at area of responsibility.
  • Proactively identifying and acting on plant performance deviation.
  • Ensure all projects are done in accuracy within a predetermine time.
  • Comply with Engineering standards by cleaning equipment’s, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents. (Maintain Housekeeping).

Qualification requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation or Industrial Automation.
  • Instrumentation Trade Test Certificates.

Experience and competencies needed.

  • 2 Years – Post Trade Test Experience.
  • Knowledge of diagnostics SCADA system.
  • Basic of Allen Bradley PLC maintenance and Installation.
  • Basic of Siemens PLCs maintenance and Installation.
  • Industrial Field Instrumentation Fault Finding.

  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment with welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
  • Fabricate, weld, and install chutes, boxes, pipes, reducers, bends, and Y piece.
  • Repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and time frames for projects.
  • Apply best maintenance practice on repair of chutes, steel tanks, pipes, and steel structures.
  • Apply standard paint on new steel structure and any repair on steel works.
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
  • Examine pressure vessels, tanks, chutes, pipes to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, and defective sections so that they are repaired.
  • Fabricate, fit, and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems.
  • Perform any task as instructed by report line supervisor.
  • Perform basic mechanical fitting, rubber lining, scaffolding and rigging works as instructed by your supervisor.
  • Clean equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents to ensure equipment or work area remains clean and tidy.
  • Clean, maintain, repair, and rebuild mechanical parts, components and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Conduct regular Fixed plant and steel structures inspections.
  • Complete breakdown and preventive maintenance work orders on time, create subsequent notifications, and provide feedback on work performed.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies then organize with supervisor.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Responsible for shift handover at area of responsibility.

Qualification requirements

  • Technical/ Vocational School, Apprenticeship training, on-the-job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or its Equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.

Experience and competencies needed.

  • Minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience working on Heavy Mobile Equipment in surface and Underground operations.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
  • Previous maintenance experience in industrialized plant is beneficial.
  • Experience using multiple welding machines including the arc welder, TIG, and MIG.
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Experience in open cast and Underground mining essential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Issuing Survey instructions to the relevant Mine Captains and ensuring the mining department and contractors adhere to these instructions.
  • Ensuring all fired rounds are correctly recorded so as to monitor the development trend of every active heading.
  • Provide survey support to ensure mine production and development is done as per design and following established standards and procedures while ensuring minimum disruption to the production and development cycle.
  • Ensure precision Survey equipment is are kept in good serviceable condition by carrying out regular checks, using permissible adjustments and keep track of equipment performance for scheduling specialized maintenance and authorized dealers’ shops
  • Implement BGML employee performance management process to ensure optimum employee performance and identify and report any substandard performances or behaviors.

  • Keep track of current Mine Instructions and archiving obsolete ones.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree in Mining Survey, Land Surveying, or Geometrics Engineering from a recognized Tertiary Education Institution
  • At Least Class “D” Valid Driving License

 

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • At least Two years of working experience in an Underground Mining environment.
  • Experience in Software – Mincard, Surpac, Deswik, Maptek point studio.
  • Experience in using and operating Leica and Trimble survey instruments ie Total stations and RTK GPS
  • Experience in using Survey scanners for both Underground and Surface.
  • Knowledge of any relevant surveying, CAD, or mine design software is beneficial
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite of programs is beneficial Sound practical experience in any conventional surveying method
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Regular stock-taking of survey consumables to ensure there is at least the minimum required always kept in the survey store.

  • Face mark-ups
  • Setup of instrument below station u/g
  • Assists the Mine Surveyor in any task required for the maintenance of Survey control”
  • Numbering batteries of all electronic equipment and ensuring they are charged correctly, keeping a record of the mandatory discharging process of all such batteries.
  • Daily vehicle cleaning checks and timely reporting of any defects. Liaise with the Maintenance Department when reporting defects at regular service intervals.
  • Borehole survey for production holes(downhole and up hole.)

Qualification Requirements:

  • A Survey Technician’s Certificate.
  • Technician certificate in any of the survey-related fields of Geomatics, cartography, Civil engineering, and mining survey, coupled with experience of working as a survey assistant in an underground mining environment.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years working on underground mining surveying
  • Sufficient on-the-job training and working experience through other documented roles in underground mining surveying that are considered acceptable by company authorities
  • Excellent communication in English, both writing and verbal
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite of programs is beneficial Sound practical experience in any conventional surveying method
  • Drone pilot licensee from TCAA adding advantage
