Role Purpose

Airtel Tanzania PLC wishes to recruit for an IT MIS Engineer. The role reports to the IT Operations Manager in IT Department. He/She will be Responsible for operations of management information systems (business analytics and reporting).

The Role Holder duties will include but not limited to;

1. Drive business intelligence, analytics and reporting;

• Assure Data ETL (Extract Transform and Load) available for business reporting.
• Ensuring data loading is accurate on Business intelligence (BI) and Police Portal and support business reporting.
• Configuring Database (DB2, Oracle, Postgres and MySQL) and manage BI and Police Portal applications availability throughout 24×7
• Installing and configuring all software tools acquired for accessing DB Applications i.e SQL Developer, RazorSQL, Toad for Oracle, Advanced Query Tool (AQT), Putty, mRemoteNG, Filezilla, Windows Secure Copy (WinSCP), Ultra Editor and Data stage Tool
• Executing reporting KPIs, BI cubes and revenue flash.
• Managing and loading of data for business Reporting purposes
• Generate concrete and Ad-hoc Queries for Call Details Record (CDR) Checks
• Ensure appropriate reports are shared in timely manner with business team.
• Updating Marketing and Finance Dashboards
• Liaise with technical support for incidents which impact reporting operations
• Conduct timely data analysis for new products and campaigns
• Provide technical assistance for auditors during Data Audit processes

2. Ensure stability, reliability, integrity and availability of data at BI and Police Portal;

• Perform daily and weekly reconciliation at file level between network nodes (MSC, IN, etc) and BI/Police Portal
• Perform daily and weekly reconciliation at CDR level between mediation and BI/Police Portal
• Manage daily, weekly and monthly database backups
• Initiate and manage restoration (recovery) activities
• Conduct database maintenance activities (DB purge, re-org)
• Ensure patches and hotfixes are deployed timely
• Maintaining, managing and updating software
• Ensure change management process is adhered in BI and police portal
• Proactively plan activities to minimize potential system outages
• Ensure security hardening as advised by IT Security
• Actively inform and engage Business stakeholders on outages and planned downtimes

3. Manage Client/Partner Relationship;

• Manage and support IT internal clients adequately to ensure business objectives are met
• Manage the Airtel partners adequately well to ensure timely service delivery to agreed quality and SLA.
• Manage and support external partners and ensure they are well served on the needs around BI and Police Portal
• Discusses and solves problems with key stakeholders.
• Interact with Airtel partners/vendors in case of any major issue & for upgrades to ensure smooth operations

4. Projects;

• Perform requirement gathering for new reports required to be implemented at BI/Police Portal
• Work with Project Team to ensure CRs and UATs are performed on time
• Review work products (code and documents), plan & achieve phase containment as per the project norm.
• Effective resource management (monitor & track project progress, foresee issues/ concerns)
• Provide support for new products launch/campaign.

Academic and Qualifications and Experience;

• Holding a bachelor degree/ Master Degree in ICT/Electronics/Computer Science
• Experience with SQL/MySQL/Oracle/DB2/Postgre databases
• API development and integrations (SOAP, REST)
• Experience with programming languages/scripting
• Experience with Linux/Windows operating systems
• 3-5 years’ experience with role preferably within the IT/Telecoms industry.
