Role Purpose
Airtel Tanzania PLC is looking for a suitable candidate for the Lead – IT Apps & Solutions Position. The incumbent will be responsible for;
- Ensuring the technical feasibility of the product
- Coordinating with the different technical departments and UT partners in ensuring product design, development, testing before rolling out to the market.
- Working closely with the Commercial department on all new technical product innovations.
- Discussing business requirements with the business users and communicate the same to respective stakeholders
- Coordinating and facilitate delivery of Product objectives
Key Responsibilities;
1. Discuss business requirements with the business users and communicate the same to
respective stakeholders;
- Arranging & attending business requirement discussions.
- Discussing business plans/benefits associated with these requirements.
- Identifying respective stakeholders to be involved in implementing these requirements.
- Creating/Reviewing requirement documents for sharing with stakeholders.
- Discussions with stakeholders (IT partners/vendors) and assessing feasibility and seeking impact analysis, efforts & timeline for implementation.
- Capturing MoMs of discussions
2. Coordinate and facilitate delivery of Product objectives.
- Reviewing product implementation proposals.
- Understanding the Impacts, Gaps and suggesting key improvements to support future needs.
- Reviewing costs, doing cost to benefit analysis.
- Proposing alternative approaches if not satisfied with proposed solution/cost.
- Reviewing the implementation timelines.
- Clearly define the roles & responsibilities among the parties involved in the delivery of the project.
- Identifying key dependencies & milestones
- Ensuring hardware availability, software license availability, environment for various phases of the projects.
- Negotiating costs & timelines and then seeking business approvals for product kick-off.
3. Defining Key IT processes
- Defining the implementation processes for managing lifecycle of a product project, its stages, milestones and required sign-off.
- Defining the set of stakeholders who should approve (in specific order) a project and its IT costs.
- To develop and maintain the project management methodology including document templates, identifying project phases, reporting and planning information for successful project delivery.
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand up meetings, reviews, release planning and demos related to various updates/products and technologies.
- Ensure the development teams are practicing the principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
- Discussions with vendors on new products, reviewing its capabilities and then arranging product features session with the business teams.
- Discussing roadmap with business teams, collecting/calculating projections.
- Planning for IT systems enhancements based on capacity upgrade /application version sun-set/obsolete hardware.
- Procurement and implementation of new technologies.
- Organize workshops and trainings for relevant business users for new projects.
- Evaluate various technical offerings, drawing comparison (pros & cons) charts and then guiding to choose the best solution.
4. Supporting Operations
- Develop, Test and Process Product/ Promo System Using Approved language
- End to End Development of Product, Promo or Mobile Apps
- End to End System, Promo, Product or App life Cycle Support
- Operation Support as L2 when needed
- Discussing the impacts of implementations with IT Operations and considering their feedback & suggestions in product design.
- Ensuring a streamlined hand-over of deliverables to operations.
- Arranging KT sessions for the IT operations about the functionality and the operations of new deliveries
- Discussing software & hardware enhancement requirements with Operations.
- Producing Product Documentation
Qualifications and Experience;
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology or other related disciplines
- Post-graduate qualification (e.g. CIM), an MBA would be an added advantage
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a marketing position, with a focus on product development.
- Minimum of 3 years’ management experience
- Experience of Telecommunications Industry or FMCG marketing environment
- Able to operate in a performance driven organization
- Affinity with and technical knowledge of the latest technologies and services used within the industry and affiliated industries
- Excellent Data analysis and Excel skills
